Daniel Šuljić
Animated film director, animation artist, musician and DJ. Born in Zagreb, from 1992 to 2011 he lived in Vienna, and since 2011 he has been living and working in both cities. After studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, he attended study programme in painting and animation at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, Masterclass C. L. Attersee (1992-1998). From 2005 to 2008 he was a lecturer of classical animation at the Institute for Media Design at the University of Art and Design in Linz, and in 2006 he was given the title of honorary professor at Jilin College of the Arts Animation School in Changchun, China. At the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Daniel Šuljić held a course in animation from 2009 to 2012, and in 2018 he became associate professor at the Department for Animation and New Media at the Academy of Fine Arts Zagreb. From 2010 to 2012 he was artistic consultant for animated film at the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. From 2013 to 2017 he was member of the cultural council of city of Zagreb for the film division. He was a member of various international festival competition juries and had several author retrospectives (Stuttgart 2017, Monstra 2016, Supertoon, Trebon and others). Since 2017 he is Croatian ambassador for European Animation Award. In 2011, he was appointed artistic director of the World Festival of Animated Film Animafest Zagreb. His films were shown at numerous international and national film festivals, several TV stations across Europe and more than 20 awards.
