THE INTERPRETER
A vague narrative that follows the structure of original tarot card, Major Arcana, such as The fool’s journey throughout the rest of 21 scenes to acquire knowledge towards the end. This animation, The Interpreter, was made after creating a series of tactile 22 collage works that were heavily inspired by Derbyshire’s history, myths and legend. This collage works also forms a new Tarot, loaded with symbolism, intrigue and mystical imagery. This animation is the way to excavate the hidden narrative in between each card.
Noriko Okaku
Born in Japan. Work/Live in London Noriko Okaku produces work in animated video, drawing, sculpture and audio/visual live performance. Her work in various media often retains a collage art element. She borrows, adopts, copies and recycles existing images to explore the diverse avenues of perception. Her work explores the eclecticism and mystery/strangeness underlying everyday objects and actions.
